A little more about Robert

Dr. Robert McBride Jr. has been an educator for 34 years. He began his tenure as Superintendent at Lockport Township High School District 205 on July 1, 2019. Prior to serving as superintendent, Dr. McBride was the principal of Neuqua Valley High School for 11 years. He has served as principal of Glenbard East High School, English Department Chair at Oak Park and River Forest High School, and English teacher at Oak Park and River Forest High School.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University, a Masters of Education degree from Harvard University, and a Doctor of Education degree from Loyola University of Chicago. He served as a Fulbright Memorial Scholar in Japan, a Schoolteacher Fellow at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, and a delegate as part of the College Board’s Caring Bridge program in China. Dr. McBride received the Terrel H. Bell Award for Outstanding Leadership from the United States Department of Education in 2017. In addition to his service to District 205, Dr. McBride is an adjunct faculty member at North Central College in the Department of Education.

Dr. McBride is married to Katie McBride, who is an elementary and early childhood educator. They have two children.
